  102. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  109. 2.1 MANUFACTURER
  110.  
  111.     A.  Provide fire-retardant wood treatment by or licensed by
  112.         Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc., P.O. Box 746,
  113.         Thomson, GA  30824.  Telephone 800-832-9663.  FAX 706-595-
  114.         1326.

  116.     B.  Requests for substitutions will be considered in
  117.         accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

  119.         Division 1 requirements.

  123. 2.2 MATERIALS
  124.  
  125.     A.  "Pyro-Guard" third generation fire-retardant treated
  126.         wood, complying with MIL-L-19140.
  127.  
  128.     B.  Fire Retardancy:
  129.         1.  Flame spread, when tested in accordance with ASTM E
  130.             84, NFPA 255, or UL 723:  Not more than 25.
  131.         2.  Smoke toxicity: No more than that of untreated wood.
  132.         3.  Each piece shall bear the UL Classification Mark
  133.             certifying flame spread rating.
  134.         4.  When test is extended for 20 additional minutes (30
  135.             minutes total), the flame front shall not extend more
  136.             than 10.5 feet from the center line of the burner and
  137.             there shall be no evidence of significant progressive
  138.             combustion.
  139.         5.  Treatment formulation shall contain no halogens,
  140.             sulfates, chlorides, ammonium phosphate, oils, or
  141.             solvents.

  143.     C.  Reviewed by the National Evaluation Service, Inc. for
  144.         structural use at elevated temperatures.
  145.  
  146.     D.  Production and kiln drying after treatment monitored by
  147.         Timber Products Inspection, Inc.
  148.  
  149.     E.  Kiln dry lumber to 19 percent or less moisture content
  150.         after treatment.
  151.  
  152.     F.  Kiln dry plywood to 15 percent or less moisture content
  153.         after treatment.

  155. 2.3 FABRICATION
  156.  
  157.     A.  Milling:  Lumber shall be ripped or run to pattern, as
  158.         required, prior to treatment.

  162. 3.1 EXAMINATION

  164.     A.  Discard pieces with defects which might impair quality or
  165.         work.

  167. 3.2 FIELD CUTTING
  168.  
  169.     A.  Lumber:  Do not rip or mill lumber after fire-retardant
  170.         treatment; end cuts, drilling of holes, and joining cuts
  171.         are permitted.
  172.  
  173.     B.  Plywood:  Fire-retardant-treated plywood can be cut in
  174.         any direction.

  176. 3.3 ADJUST AND CLEAN
  177.  
  178.     A.  Remove scraps and debris from site, and leave in a broom-
  179.         clean condition.
